Edwards keen to stay with Tech 3 for 2011

Colin Edwards sets his sights on retaining his Tech 3 Yamaha seat into 2011 as a possible chance with Ducati in World Superbikes potentially goes wanting.
Colin Edwards has stated his desire to remain in MotoGP for the foreseeable future, in particular with the Tech 3 Yamaha team.

While team-mate Ben Spies is now confirmed as being bound for the factory Yamaha outfit in 2010, Edwards's future rather more uncertain with rumours linking him to a possible return to the World Superbike Championship he won in 2002.

However, those links had been with Ducati, but the announcement it will not provide factory support to any team in 2011 is destined to leave Edwards chasing opportunities in MotoGP again.

Indeed, for the moment, Edwards – who has started 129 races in MotoGP without having a victory – is focused on retaining his ride for next season.

“I would love to stay with Herve [Ponacharal],” he said. “I'd love to stay with Yamaha. That's my No. 1 goal at the moment. We just need to try and make it happen.”

Spies is expected to be replaced by Yamaha's World Superbike racer Cal Crutchlow next season.
