125cc title leader Marc Marquez, who has dislocated both shoulders this season - most recently last time out at Brno - showed no signs of weakness as he claimed his seventh pole of the year at Indianapolis on Saturday.

Marquez exchanged pole with Nico Terol in the closing minutes, but the Ajo Red Bull Derbi rider decided the contest by bursting 0.479sec clear of the Aspar Aprilia rider with three minutes to go.

Terol, winner at Brno, couldn't gain ground in the remaining minutes but was in turn 0.423sec in front of team-mate Bradley Smith, with Sandro Cortese completing the front row and the final rider within one-second of Marquez.

Second in the championship Pol Espargaro fell from his Tuenti Derbi early in the 40-minute session and could only qualify in fifth - marking the first time this season the Spaniard hasn't started on the front row.

Danny Webb recovered from a rough early highside to claim eleventh place.
