Hayden to make dirt track return

After qualifying on the front row for the Indianapolis MotoGP, Nicky Hayden confirmed that he will 'do a few laps' on a dirt track bike at the Indy Mile this (Saturday) evening - where Hayden is to be a guest Grand Marshal.

"I told Ducati if I was on the front row, least I could do is get a couple laps [on a dirt track bike]. I'm going to go out, ride around... not sign up for the heat races or nothing like that. But definitely I'm looking forward to it," said Hayden.

"I haven't ridden a dirt track since 2002, it will be fun to put the steel shoe on and run a couple laps. See if I remember how to do it, get my foot down and get a little bit dirty, but it's pretty cool.

"I love dirt track, that's where my roots are, I'm a dirt tracker, and it's going to be pretty neat."

They have a dirt track, but I think they ride stock 450's on it not special modified flat track bikes. Look at Nicky and Tommy's bikes in this video. qik.com/video/CBA2E0D95B1247EAB3DCAD4BFE059633

Awesome! I was saying the other day how Nicky should turn some laps. What is REALLY surprising is that Nicky said he has ridden track track since 2002. This week Superbikeplanet put up a google maps view of the Hayden compound and they have a dirt oval a couple of feet out of the back door! superbikeplanet.com/2010/Aug/100825hayden.htm So it's hard to believe and/or a little strange that he hasn't done ANY dirt track in 8 years with a dirt track right there.
