Melandri moving to Superbike with Yamaha?

Italian website says a deal has been done for Marco Melandri to ride for the Sterilgarda Yamaha team in World Superbike next season.

Melandri, enduring a disappointing return to Honda Gresini in MotoGP this year, had been tipped to join BMW's World Superbike team.

Melandri has been a MotoGP rider since 2003 and ridden for Yamaha, Honda, Ducati and Kawasaki.

The Italian has won five races and taken 20 podiums in the premier-class, with a best championship finish of second in 2005.

Sterilgarda Yamaha took Ben Spies to the 2009 WSBK crown and has won two races this season with Cal Crutchlow.

Crutchlow looks set to take Spies' place at Tech 3 next year, when the Texan will move to the factory Yamaha MotoGP team.

Finally someone grows some cojones and tells the truth in front of the whole circus! He'd rather be hated for telling it like it is than being one more loved numbered sheep in the paddock. Kudos to Melandri!

Hey drifterjake. The joke is not Melandri but the fact that you want to compare Melandri and Edwards results.Marco has won races but if you want to compare the three latest years Melandri has 4 podiums and Edwards 2(if i don't make a mistake). And Edwards was many years in factory Yamaha and didn't manage to take a win. That is the joke.Go Marco, smoke them up
