125cc title leader Marc Marquez flattened the opposition to claim his eighth 2010 pole, from twelve attempts, by over half a second at Aragon on Saturday.

The Red Bull Ajo Derbi rider - who starts Sunday's race with a nine-point lead over Nico Terol and 20-point advantage over Pol Espargaro - set his best time on lap 13 of 15, with team-mate Sandro Cortese making it a perfect day for the Ajo team in second place, 0.563sec from Marquez.

Terol qualified third for Aspar Aprilia, with Efren Vasquez denying his Tuenti Derbi team-mate Espargaro a place on the front row. Double 2010 pole sitter Bradley Smith will start sixth on the second Aspar machine.
