125: Terol fastest in Japan

Nico Terol fastest during Friday practice for the Japanese 125cc Grand Prix at Motegi.
125cc World Championship leader Nico Terol kept the pressure on his rivals by leading Friday practice for the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi.

The Aspar Aprilia rider, who starts round 13 with a six point lead over Pol Espargaro and eleven point advantage over Marc Marquez, was the only rider to dip under the two-minute mark and put his Aspar Aprilia 0.203sec clear of Marquez.

The second Ajo Derbi of Sandro Cortese claimed third place, just over half a second from Terol, with Bradley Smith a few hundredths behind the German in fourth.

Espargaro, winner at Aragon, crashed twice during the session. His second fall was a brutal highside in the closing minutes that left the Spaniard winded on the side of the track.

The Tuenti Derbi rider was fifth quickest and the final rider within one-second of Terol.
