Marc Marquez took his tenth pole of the 125cc season at Sepang in Malaysia on Saturday.

The Red Bull Ajo Derbi rider, back within six points of retaking the title lead from Nico Terol, knocked Briton Bradley Smith off pole with a minute to go, then improved further on his final lap.

Smith, still seeking his first win of the season, was 0.293sec behind the Spaniard, with his Aspar Aprilia team-mate Terol 0.706sec from Marquez in third.

Pol Espargaro, the other title contender, was just 0.001sec slower than Terol to claim the final place on the front row - but Marquez will take some stopping, as he chases his eighth victory of the year on Sunday.
