Lorenzo set for first race as new champion

Jorge Lorenzo looks ahead to his first race as a MotoGP World Champion less than a week after sealing the title.
Just two days after being crowned the 2010 MotoGP World Champion, Jorge Lorenzo is already switching his focus to the final three races of his crowning season.

In the absence of sole rival Dani Pedrosa, Lorenzo did exactly what he needed in Malaysia to ensure he lifted a first MotoGP title, although the quick succession of races means he doesn't have much chance to celebrate.

Nonetheless, Lorenzo heads to the next event at Phillip Island for the Australian Grand Prix as 'one of the happiest people in the world', the 23-year-old looking forward to competing in his first MotoGP race as champion.

"I am one of the happiest people in the world," the FIAT Yamaha rider beamed. "We got it! I am very proud of my team, partners and sponsors, but it is not really 'game over' because we have to continue, we still have three more races. We have to focus in the same way as we have until now, fighting for the podium and without the pressure of the championship we hope to get some good results.

“I like Philip Island, it's one of my favourite tracks and maybe the fastest on the calendar. It's always amazing to ride there, so close to the sea, but the weather is very different to Malaysia, always very cold."
