Moto2: de Angelis pole in Australia

Alex de Angelis takes pole position for the Australian Moto2 Grand Prix at Phillip Island.
Scott Redding lost out on his first ever grand prix pole position with the chequered flag waving at Phillip Island on Saturday.

The Marc VDS rider, a front row starter at four of the last five races, looked to final have his first pole in the bag when Alex de Angelis snatched it from him by 0.230sec on his 17th and final lap.

de Angelis took his first Moto2 podium with second place for the JiR team at Sepang last weekend.

Stefan Bradl will start third on the grid for Viessmann Kiefer Racing, with former 125cc world champion Mike di Meglio enjoying by far his best qualifying of the year with fourth place for Aspar.

Triple 2010 race winner Andrea Iannone recovered from a fall to claim a second row start for Fimmco Speed Up, with former title contender Julian Simon sixth for Aspar.

Michael Ranseder (Vector Kiefer racing) and Raffaele de Rosa (Tech 3) were seventh and eighth, with new world champion Toni Elias ninth for Gresini Moriwaki. 2010 MotoGP rider Karel Abraham completes the top ten with Sepang winner Roby Rolfo qualifying just 25th.

Why the hell can't we be posted with the full field qualifying times for the lower classes in both the Moto 2, GP 125's and the WSS? I believe it belittles the lower class riders and frustrates the **** out of genuine fans who want to know where everyone is! Please find it in your skills to recify this!!!!

So close for Scott. I've got to say I'm really happy with how he's progressed this season. Fingers crossed he has a good race tomorrow. I know a lot of people seem to hate the Moto2 but for me it produces the most interesting racing every time
