Inaugural Moto2 world champion Toni Elias has taken pole position for his final appearance in the class, at Valencia.
In a session that saw the top 20 riders covered by less than one-second, Elias put his Gresini Moriwaki on pole for the third time this year by 0.106sec over Stefan Bradl.
Viessmann Kiefer (Suter) rider Bradl won his first Moto2 race last weekend at Estoril, while Elias will be seeking his eighth win of the year in Sunday's finale.
Triple Moto2 winner Andrea Iannone, who needs to score six points more than Julian Simon to take second in the standings on Sunday, qualified third for Fimmco Speed Up with young Brit Scott Redding fourth.
Marc VDS rider Redding was left fuming after finding riders slowing on the racing line on his last lap.
Alex de Angelis put his MotoBI into fifth on the grid, just in front of World Supersport champion Kenan Sofuoglu (Technomag-CIP Suter).
Simon lost significant time during the session due to technical problems and will start seventh for Aspar Suter.
