The bike Suter is planning to enter into the proposed 2012 'Moto1' World Championship has made its track debut with an outing in the wet at Jerez.
Following the announcement in September that Suter had designs on stepping up from Moto2 when the new technical regulations come into place, the Swiss chassis constructor gave its BMW 1000cc engined prototype a competitive run in Spain.
Testing alongside Ducati, who were on track with Franco Battiani and Karel Abraham, German Supersport Champion Damian Cudlin rode the bike for 39 laps in tricky weather conditions, with GPOne.com
reporting a best lap of 1min 57.7secs.
Placing him around four seconds off the best achieved by Battiani and Abraham, Cudlin's was matched by the best Moto2 lap set by Andrea Iannone.
The bike, which will be developed by Marc VDS Racing, is expected to be handed over to young Briton Scott Redding for the second day of the test.
MotoGP technical rules are changing from 800cc to 1000cc for the 2012 season, when modified production engines will also be eligible and concessions made for non-factory ('Claiming Rule') teams, which Suter is aiming his product at.
Eponymous owner Eskil Suter is no stranger to MotoGP having had a hand in developing MotoGP chassis for Kawasaki, Ilmor and Petronas in the past.
