Ducati president drops Tricolour livery hint

"We are proud to accept the invitation of our country's President, by placing the Italian Tricolore on Valentino's and Nicky's motorcycles."
Speaking at the Wrooom Press Ski Meeting on Tuesday, Ducati CEO and President Gabriele Del Torchio revealed that the Italian Tricolore will be present on the factory team's 2011 MotoGP bikes, in the form of a badge on the fuel tank.

“Ducati will remain in [2011] the icon of excellence it has so far proven to be and will deliver “Made in Italy” to markets all over the world," Del Torchio said.

"This year we are celebrating the 150th anniversary of Italian Unity and we are proud to accept the invitation of our country's President, Giorgio Napolitano, by placing the Italian Tricolore on Valentino's and Nicky's motorcycles.”

Next year's Desmosedici livery will be unveiled by Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden on Wednesday.

I think the "tricolore" barcode logo looks the business and is a fitting endorsement to a country that punches well above its weight in automotive design. Nice one.

With Vale there now it's like the Italian national team. The atmosphere at Ducati must be crazy, Nicky is a lucky boy to be part of it. Even the Vale/Ducati haters have to admit that would be fun as sh@t to be a part of.
