Nicky Hayden lowered his best lap time by over a second on day two of the Sepang MotoGP test, but wasn't happy to be 1.6sec from the top.
The Ducati Marlboro star put in 62 laps on Wednesday, more than any other rider, as he sought to fix a vibration/chatter problem that seems to be troubling all the Desmosedicis (Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo and Honda's Andrea Dovizioso also spoke of vibration issues).
Hayden finished the day eleventh fastest and was second fastest of the Ducati riders after Aspar's Hector Barbera.
asked Nicky how close he is to getting a bike he will be happy to race with.
“Well I hope it's the next click, but we're definitely a little bit away,” replied the 2006 world champion. “I'm glad we still got some testing time left. We're only 25% through [two out of eight days] so I'm not going to start panicking and changing too much.
“We lost a lot of time today, just trying to figure out why we had chatter and vibration, so we still have a couple of new bits to try here tomorrow. I don't want to be a second and a half off the pace…”
Team-mate Valentino Rossi was 13th quickest.
