Yamaha to unveil 2011 livery ahead of second Sepang test

Yamaha is to take the wraps off the official 2011 livery for its YZR-M1 just ahead of the second pre-season group test at Sepang in Malaysia later this month
Yamaha has announced that it will unveil its official 2011 MotoGP livery to the waiting world ahead of the second pre-season group test at Sepang in Malaysia later this month.

Thus far this year, Yamaha factory riders Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies have tested on largely unbranded bikes, but the team will take the wraps off the 2011 YZR-M1's new livery on 21 February, the day before Sepang's second three-day test kicks off. The bikes are expected to look substantially different this season in the wake of the departure of erstwhile title sponsor FIAT.

Gresini ace Marco Simoncelli paced the opening test back at the beginning of the month, narrowly ahead of Repsol Honda star Dani Pedrosa, with the Spaniard's team-mate and former MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner third in a clean sweep of the leading three positions for the Japanese manufacturer. Defending title-winner Jorge Lorenzo wound up fourth, with Spies sixth.

Yamaha will keep the wall. Jarvis wants it. Jorge wants it. Ben wants it. The wall came when they using different tyres, now it is common. Making each rider more focus.... and about sharing data, david emmet well explained, every rider can not use other's, since they have different style. but it's easier to blame anything to valentino rossi.

@ Wally I have no intention on getting into a Rossi fans v Stoner fans v Jorge fans argument. But I would just point out that sponsors don't care so much if their man wins. Sponsors love Rossi because he is so popular with fans across the world. He is the biggest star in the history of motorcycle racing. Whether Rossi is now passed his best - who knows? I thought he was when Stoner won, yet he came back and won two more titles. Shows how little I know. But the point is, it's not that important to a sponsor. So long as the majority of fans wave 46 flags (which they do), the sponsors will keep calling. Oli
