Casey Stoner took just two laps on Thursday morning to shatter the two-minute barrier at Sepang.
The new Repsol Honda rider, fastest with a 2min 0.171sec on Wednesday, had predicted the two-minute mark would be broken this morning (see separate story) - and he did so in style, recording a stunning 1min 59.665sec.
That is believed to be the fastest ever
MotoGP lap at the Sepang Circuit.
The official best
MotoGP Sepang lap, set during a race weekend, stands at 2min 0.518sec, set by
Valentino Rossi in 2009.
The pole position record is a 2min 1.537sec (Jorge Lorenzo, 2010) and the fastest race lap a 2min 2.108sec (Casey Stoner, 2007).
The fastest lap during 2010 pre-season testing at the Malaysian track was a 2min 0.271sec by Rossi.
Thursday is the third and final day of this wee's Sepang test.

Dani Pedrosa has now also lapped under two-minutes, setting a 1min 59.803sec on his third lap.
