New Japanese MotoGP date announced

New date for Japanese MotoGP round at Motegi.
The rescheduled 2011 Japanese MotoGP round at Motegi will now be held on October 2, the FIM has announced.

Last year's Japanese round was also postponed, and moved to October, due to travel disruption caused by the volcanic eruption in Iceland.

The full FIM statement and revised 2011 MotoGP calendar can be seen below:

"Due to reasons of force majeure, the Japanese Grand Prix, at the circuit of Twin Ring Motegi, originally scheduled on April 24, has been postponed to 2 October 2011.

"The calendar is the following:

May 1 Portugal Estoril
May 15 France Le Mans
June 5 Catalunya Catalunya
June 12 Great Britain Silverstone
June 25 Netherlands** Assen

It is also stupid to race at Laguna Seca, then fly all the way to Brno, only to return again to the US to race an Indy. Why no do both US races on consecutive weekends, and then fly back to Europe?
