Stoner chasing 'good result' in Qatar

"When the flag drops, we will see the true pace of all our competitors and know where we stand and I can't wait" - Casey Stoner.
There has been plenty of winter speculation about Valentino Rossi's chances of winning his first race for Ducati, just as he did for Yamaha in 2004, but Casey Stoner has a far more likely chance of achieving a 'double-debut' victory.

Stoner won by almost three-seconds on his Ducati MotoGP debut at Qatar in 2007 and, following his switch to Repsol Honda, has been the man to beat during 2011 pre-season testing, leading five of the eight days.

The Australian also has a superb history at the Losail circuit - with the exception of last year when he crashed from the lead - winning in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

But Stoner is taking nothing for granted, and speaking only in terms of getting a 'good result' on Sunday evening.

"After a strong winter testing period, I'm very happy with the set-up we have found on the bike and I go into this race weekend looking for a good result,” said Stoner.

“When the flag drops, we will see the true pace of all our competitors and know where we stand and I can't wait.

“Usually, I feel comfortable here at the Losail circuit and I hope that this year - my first with the Repsol Honda Team, we can achieve a good result".

I dunno, but I'll tell you this much. He's got a much better shout at it than Rossi repeating Welkom. I wouldn't rule Rossi out of winning the opener though. Afterall he's on the winningest Losail bike in the 800 era with the winningestLosail 800 riders settings to boot. Sarcasm : Lowest form of whit and so on. Good going Casey.

If he can do it on the Deadly Duc he certainly can do it on the Honda...probably without even breaking a sweat this time! Ok...maybe a little sweat! I just reckon, under that helmet, there's a big smile on Stoner's face as goes round corners these days. You can just about hear him say, "It goes around cornerns...it really, really goes around corners". Then he sheds a tear or two from being overwhelmed with whole situation. I never seen him smile so much in those recent pics. It's like the weight of the world has been lifted off his shoulders. Mean while back at the Rossi camp....the opposite of everything I just said!
