Moto2: Bradl leads final practice

Stefan Bradl leads Friday practice for the Qatar Moto2 Grand Prix.
Stefan Bradl put his new-for-2011 Kalex chassis back on top of the Moto2 timesheets during the third and final free practice session in Qatar.

Fastest in the opening session of the weekend, the German - winner of last year's Portuguese Grand Prix on a Suter - dropped to third place in the second Thursday session, which was led by Gresini Moriwaki's Yuki Takahashi.

But Bradl returned to the top in style in Friday's final practice, finishing a massive 0.872sec clear of rookie and reigning 125cc world champion Marc Marquez (Catalunya Caixa Repsol Suter).

Speed Master Suter rider Andrea Iannone was the only other rider within one-second of Bradl, with Takahashi +1.006sec in fourth.

2010 title runner-up Julian Simon improved from ninth on Thursday to fifth for Aspar Suter, with Scott Redding shifting in the other direction, from second in FP2 to sixth in FP3.

This was the only track session for the Moto2 riders on Friday. Qualifying and (controversially) the warm-up will be held on Saturday, then the race on Sunday.

Friday practice - Qatar:

1. Bradl (Kalex) 2m 0.882s
2. Marquez (Suter) +0.872s
3. Iannone (Suter) +0.902s
4. Takahashi (Moriwaki) +1.006s
5. Simon (Suter) +1.123s
6. Redding (Suter) +1.167s
7. Luthi (Suter) +1.217s
8. Cluzel (Suter) +1.227s
9. Corsi (FTR) +1.413s
10. de Angelis (MotoBI) +1.419s

17. Smith (Tech 3) +1.881s
28. Coghlan (FTR) +3.394s

Stefan seems to have some extra speed where others didn't have. But Marquez and Redding will definitely be challenging for pole tomorrow. As for Kenan, he is one of the most improved drivers in terms of lap times and top speed (FP3-FP1=2,35 secs). It sounds like Technomag-CIP has some set-up issues. Even if he can't make it to the podium he will surely get closer.

Too early to say more. Gaps between all the riders seem too much. Kenan maybe struggling but I believe that he could find his way on sunday. Let' s wait & see what happens. Anyway season is too long to see more changes!...
