Sandro Cortese ended Nico Terol's perfect start to the 2011 season by leading Friday's second 125cc practice session at Jerez in Spain.
Terol was fastest in every track session at the Qatar season-opener, then back on top in this morning's first practice, but Cortese was bravest in bright but blustery conditions this afternoon.
The Racing Team Germany rider, runner-up to Terol at round one, burst ahead during the middle stages then made numerous improvements to stay 0.499sec clear of Terol's Bankia Aspar by the end of the 40-minutes.
However, Cortese's FP2 time was almost half-a-second slower than Terol's FP1 best.
Third fastest Hector Faubel, Terol's team-mate, was over one-second behind Cortese.
Probably due to the windy conditions, the session saw numerous fallers.
All were unhurt, although one unidentified rider was carried away conscious, but on a stretcher, after a multi-bike incident.
