2012 entry list to be published next month
6 April 2011
An idea of which teams will compete in the 2012 MotoGP World Championship will be made clearer next month after the FIM announced it would publish a provisional entry list.
Preparations for the overhauled premier motorcycling series are well underway with the FIM, Dorna and IRTA agreeing a schedule for entries to be submitted for 2012.
With a press release stating that 'considerable interest' has been expressed by teams wishing to participate in 2012 and beyond, teams must register that interest by Friday 29th April 2011. Teams considered eligible for the class with then be sent a prospectus providing the further information and the conditions of participation.
From here, teams who still wish to participate must submit a formal application, which needs to be supported by detailed information requested in the prospectus, by Friday 13th May 2011.
Applications will be reviewed (during the Le Mans MotoGP round) and teams will be notified of an acceptance, rejection or pending status. A provisional entry list of teams will then be published.
Finally, accepted teams will be required to lodge a security deposit with IRTA by Friday 3rd June 2011 and the final list of accepted teams will then be published.
As well as the four manufacturers competing in MotoGP, several other names have been linked to the revived 1000cc class, including Moto2 constructor Suter, while World Superbike manufacturers BMW and Aprilia have also been tipped to move.
