Hilton to visit Catalunya

Paris Hilton present at this weekend's Catalunya Grand Prix.
Paris Hilton, whose 'Blusens by Paris Hilton Racing' team claimed its first 125cc victory of the season last time out in France, is to attend this weekend's Catalunya Grand Prix.

The visit will mark the first time the American socialite's has been present to support her team at the racetrack.

After arriving at the Barcelona circuit by helicopter on Sunday morning, Hilton will take part in a photo call before accompanying her riders Sergio Gadea and Maverick Viñales to the starting grid. Hilton will watch the race from the pits.

Grand Prix rookie and Le Mans winner Vinales insists he won't be distracted by all the extra attention.

"The fact Paris Hilton will be here on Sunday should not get us distracted but it will clearly be an extra motivation even if I think what is truly important is to keep focused on what we have to do and disregard what is going on outside the track," said the 16-year-old.

With scattered showers predicted throughout the Catalunya weekend, Hilton may be glad of her umbrella on the grid.

well done Skidmarks - someone had to get the usual cynical barb in. This is news. You don't have to agree with the stupid celebrity culture the world has, I certainly don't like it much but it is a fool who dismisses it. The fact that the girl is showing up at all will bring a lot of publicity not just to her team but to the whole event and that can only be a good thing. Credit where credit is due and in this instance Paris Hilton deserves some kudos. Lets face it, she did not have to sponsor a European based motorcycle race team but she did. She would have got a whole lot more publicity if she had stuck her name on some dull car in the states.

Glitz n glam aside, this team is bagging some serious kudos thanks to young Vinales. If the Hilton association can help bring through a young talent like that, then it's all good. I hope she knows they don't allow dogs in pit lane tho...
