Bridgestone change Catalunya tyre spec

"We listened to rider calls from last year's race here that the extra hard rear was not necessary from the point of view of grip and consistency."
Following rider feedback from last year's Catalunya MotoGP, Bridgestone will supply rear tyre compounds that are one step softer for this weekend's 2011 event.

"We listened to rider calls from last year's race here that the extra hard rear was not necessary from the point of view of grip and consistency," explained Bridgestone's Hirohide Hamashima.

"We carefully analysed last year's race data and tyre choices and as a result we have chosen rear options one step softer this year.”

Those options will be the (asymmetric) medium and hard compounds.

Meanwhile, scattered showers are forecast throughout this weekend and, for the first time this season, Bridgestone has selected its hard compound wets tyres.

This year's Catalan round is taking place one month earlier than the 2010 round.

What are they bringing if it rains, as the forcast predicts? I hope something that will stand up to wet then dry and not end up with a cr@p shoot like Jerez where the tires caused half the riders to crash out.

Just so I can get this straight, if (in the unlikely event) Rossi does well this weekend, will this be added to the list of the things he has some how influenced to cheat his way to another title. Just asking like, because there seem to be a lot, but they only get mentioned after the fact?
