Simone Corsi put his Ioda Racing FTR on top of the Friday afternoon Moto2 timesheets after an exciting end to second practice in Catalunya.

The Italian, third in the wet at Jerez, got the better of long time leader Thomas Luthi by 0.121sec on his 17th and final lap - with Alex de Angelis, Yuki Takahashi and Bradley Smith also challenging for the top in the closing stages.

Those top five riders were covered by just 0.221sec, with championship leader Stefan Bradl just a hundredth further back in sixth place.

Moto2 rookie and Le Mans winner Marc Marquez was eleventh fastest in front of his home fans, after suffering a huge highside in morning practice. The Repsol rider was within half a second of Corsi.

Julian Simon, second to Bradl in the championship, was twelfth.
