PICS: Paris Hilton on the grid

Paris Hilton made her first visit to a Motorcycle Grand Prix on Sunday at Catalunya, where she was present to support the 'Blusens by Paris Hilton Racing' 125cc team (see below for further pics).

Hilton appeared on the grid with rider Maverick Vinales, who won the previous Le Mans round and went on to finish second in Catalunya.

The American socialite watched the race from pit wall, before congratulating 16-year-old rookie Vinales in Parc Ferme.

Hilton was later seen on the MotoGP grid with Jorge Lorenzo.

I think that we, the fans, should embrace her with open arms. She can only be good for our sport and who knows, she may even raise awareness enough for her friends to contribute. Hopefully we don't say things that will offend her and her friends. Sponsorship is what keeps this sport alive. And without sponsors, we don't get to watch our heroes every weekend. Even the riders know that pleasing their sponsors is priority at any media event. Let's keep negative remarks to ourselves on this one.

@Dario The grid is already depleted, Kawasaki jumped ship in 2009, Suzuki has one 'supposedly' factory bike on the grid and nobody knows if they are building a 1000cc bike and crazy CRT rules are being introduced next year to artificially increase the grid size. If the fanbase of the sport we love does not increase then it might disappear. I don't follow any of Paris Hilton's other exploits but I am giving her a thumbs up on the advertising she is generating for the sport.
