Karel Abraham and the Cardion AB Motoracing team will both continue in MotoGP next season, it was announced at Assen on Thursday.
It means that both of this year's rookies - Abraham and Cal Crutchlow - have confirmed places on the 2012 grid, when engine capacity will increase from 800 to 1000cc and a new category of privateer 'Claiming Rule Teams' will join the class.
Abraham, a Moto2 race winner, claimed his best MotoGP qualifying position with an impressive sixth at the recent Silverstone round. The Czech has finished a best of seventh (twice) in the six races to date, and holds tenth in the championship.
Cardion AB will continue to use Ducati machinery in 2012 with 'an option' for 2013.
The Cardion AB team is owned by Abraham's father, who also owns the Brno circuit, home of the Czech Republic MotoGP round.
