The Tuscan hills were alive to the sound of - well, not very much, as damp weather at Mugello kept most riders in the pits during Friday afternoon practice for the Italian MotoGP.
Following a dry morning practice, led by home star Marco Simoncelli, spots of rain began falling during 125cc second practice and continued into the MotoGP session.
A handful of riders tried wet tyres early in the MotoGP session, before soft slicks were possible for the final five minutes.
Local rider Andrea Dovizioso made the best of them to set a 1min 49.272sec, which was just 0.285sec slower than Simoncelli's morning best.
Dovizioso's time was a full 2.665sec quicker than LCR's Toni Elias, in second, with Valentino Rossi 3.278sec behind Dovizioso in third.
Having suffered technical problems with both of his bikes this morning, the afternoon drizzle was the last thing Rossi needed.
Ducati will now call upon GP11.1 data from previous test at the circuit, when development riders were using the bike.
Rossi has completed Mugello test laps with the 2012 1000cc Ducati.
Only twelve of the 16 riders were credited with a lap this afternoon, and some of those only used the wet tyres.
Simoncelli, Casey Stoner, Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa didn't complete a lap.
Pramac Ducati's Loris Capirossi is missing his home event after being injured in qualifying for last weekend's Assen round.
The Mugello circuit has been resurfaced for this weekend's event.
