Iannone gets first taste of MotoGP at Mugello test

"I am thrilled to have experienced MotoGP, finally!" - Andrea Iannone.
Rising Italian star and multiple Moto2 race winner Andrea Iannone got his first taste of MotoGP machinery during Monday's Mugello test.

The Speedmaster rider was invited to try the Pramac Ducati during the afternoon and, although no transponder was fitted, Pramac said that Iannone's best lap was "a few tenths" behind that of Sylvain Guintoli.

"I am thrilled to have experienced MotoGP, finally!" said Iannone. "I want to thank the Pramac Racing Team for the opportunity and especially the technicians for supporting me during the test.

"There is a lot of difference compared to Moto2 - the Ducati has a lot of power and is more difficult to control. I have to learn so many things about MotoGP, but the debut has been very positive. "

World Superbike star Guintoli, who looks set to stand-in for the injured Loris Capirossi at the Sachsenring and perhaps Laguna Seca, set a best lap time five-seconds from Casey Stoner and three-seconds behind Pramac regular Randy de Puniet.
