Double race-winning 125cc rookie Maverick Vinales took his third pole of the season by a comparatively large 0.331sec at the Sachsenring on Saturday.

The Paris Hilton Racing Aprilia rider led an all-Spanish top five in Germany, with Aspar's Hector Faubel - who skilfully kept his Aprilia out of the tyre wall after running off in the closing stages - getting closest to Vinales.

Just 0.259sec then covered Faubel to fifth placed Sergio Gadea - Vinales' team-mate - with Luis Salom completing the front row and world championship leader Nico Terolqualifying in fourth to head row two.

Aspar star Terol will start Sunday's race 39 points clear of nearest rival Johann Zarco, who was the top non-Spaniard in sixth for the Ajo Derbi team.

Silverstone winner Jonas Folger was the leading German, in ninth, for Ajo Aprilia.
