125: Terol on pole at Brno

Nico Terol takes pole position for the Czech Republic 125cc Grand Prix at Brno.
125cc World Championship leader Nico Terol is on target for his third Brno victory in a row, after claiming pole position with a dominant performance in Saturday's qualifying session.

The Aspar Aprilia rider, who starts Sunday's tenth round holding a 32 point lead over Johann Zarco, repeatedly lowered the pole time to finish 0.385sec ahead of Zarco's Ajo Derbi.

German Sandro Cortese will complete the front row, over half-a-second from Terol, whose team-mate and Sachsenring winner Hector Faubel heads row two.

Luis Salom starts fifth for RW Aprilia while Jonas Folger, winner at Silverstone and 18 today, has been declared unfit to ride due to illness.

Red Bull Ajo Aprilia team-mate Danny Kent made good use of Folger's higher-spec motorcycle to repeatedly hold fourth in the closing stages on his way to sixth on the grid.

Still 0,3 seconds slower than Cecchinello's record in 2003! What few people know: this record was made after a heavy piston seizure. I saw the piston after the race, it was amazing to see that he finished the race with the piston in that condition! The fastest 125 pole was made by Talmacsi in 2007. 1.06.86. with the 'old' Aprilia RSW the 125's seem to get slower each year!
