Moto2: Marquez on pole at Brno

Marc Marquez takes pole position for the Czech Republic Moto2 Grand Prix at Brno.
Star rookie Marc Marquez kept the pressure on Moto2 title leader Stefan Bradl by snatching pole position for the Czech Republic round on his very last lap of Saturday's qualifying session.

Bradl led most of the session, then exchanged pole several times with Marquez in the closing stages to hold pole as the chequered flag was waved.

But Repsol Suter rider Marquez made good use of a slipstream from two slower riders at the end of his final lap to snatch his fourth pole of the year - and third in a row - by 0.211sec.

Both Marquez and Bradl have now won four races this season. Marquez has won the last three, but it is Kalex rider Bradl who holds a 47 point lead over the reigning 125cc world champion.

The front row will be completed by JiR's Alex de Angelis, who took his first podium of the year at the previous Sachsenring round.

Row two will consist of Thomas Luthi (Suter), Andrea Iannone (Suter) and Aleix Espargaro (Pons Kalex). Podium finishing rookie Bradley Smith was the highest placed British rider, in 16th for Tech 3.

Funny how Moto2 is so much more entertaining then watching the "Big Boys" fight for four laps with the once in a blue moon last lap battle thrown in once or twice a season. Many Moto2 races go down to the final three laps to decide the podiums, multiple crashes and a mob of hungry, talented dudes who swap paint from start to finish.
