Reigning MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo has been confirmed as the first big name to sign up to take part in Felipe Massa's end-of-season karting event.
Lorenzo will compete in the event in Florianopolis against a number of big-name stars from the motorsport world, with the likes of Rubens Barrichello and Tony Kanaan also expected to attend.
“We have just received an okay from him [Lorenzo],” Massa said during a press conference at the Costão do Santinho Resort in Florianopolis
Adrian Sutil, Sergio Perez and Pastor Maldonado are also said to have shown an interest in taking part in the race but Massa's former team-mate at Ferrari – seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher – will miss the race.
"There is a clash of dates with the Race of Champions,” Massa revealed, “so he will not come.”
