New MotoGP contract for Misano

New MotoGP contract for Misano.
Misano, venue for this weekend's San Marino Grand Prix, will continue to host a round of the MotoGP World Championship until at least 2016.

“It is a pleasure to be here to renew the contract with the Misano World Circuit, to continue working with the Republic of San Marino, Riviera di Rimini and Santamonica S.p.a. and to be able to sign a deal in an economic period such as this," said Dorna Sports CEO, Carmelo Ezpeleta.

"We are highly satisfied with our relationship and we first started to speak about a renewal last year. The San Marino Grand Prix is a very important one for us and I am certain it will continue to get better and better with every year.”

Misano previously dropped off the motorcycle grand prix calendar after Wayne Rainey's career-ending 1993 accident. It then returned in 2007, on a revised circuit running in the opposite direction.

Triple 500cc world champion Rainey, paralysed during his race-leading '93 fall, is to visit Misano for the first time since his accident this weekend.
