Motegi greets IndyCar with a 'firm shake'...
Just as Valentino Rossi was confirming his presence at the Japanese MotoGP round, effectively ending speculation of a rider boycott over radiation fears, the IndyCar Championship was being shaken by an earthquake while preparing for this weekend's race at the same Motegi circuit.

This is such a no-brainer. It has been from the start. The event (at that track) should have been cancelled. Corporate greed (looking after the bottom line) and fan greed (you better not interrupt the show I want to keep watching) are the factors leading people to say the event should go forward. The people standing on the sidelines calling people "puss!es" for not wanting to go are like the people who stand on the sideline of a fight yelling out "fight fight fight". Stupid people, with personal agendas, saying stupid things. Firstly, there's an ongoing radiation emergency which is serious and for which there is a possibility of understatement by authorities. You are correct in one thing Richard, everyone will return from Motegi intact. Maybe one or more will pick up an isotope particle, they have been found as far afield as Tokyo picked up in car filters etc. but this will not show for decades. As far as I'm concerned its an unacceptable risk to impose on the riders. TEPCO and the Japanese government have lied since day one with no signs of this abating. They continue to upgrade the amount of radiation released from the initial blasts and confirmed the melt through in a number of the reactors.....because they had to....not because they wanted to. Dr Chris Busby has some good answers on this mess and is independent and a Nuclear Physicist.
