Johann Zarco put some pressure back on 125cc title leader Nico Terol by claiming his third pole of the season at Motegi in Japan.

The Frenchman - still seeking his first grand prix win after six second-places this season - moved ahead of Terol with four minutes remaining, then improved further to finish 0.242sec ahead of Hector Faubel.

Faubel, Terol's Aspar Aprilia team-mate, took second place on his final lap, leaving Terol on the outside of the front row, 0.360sec from Zarco's Ajo Derbi.
