2011 Moto2 champion elect Stefan Bradl led the Friday combined practice timesheets for the Valencia finale, courtesy of his morning time.
Bradl was 0.329sec ahead of Kiefer Kalex team-mate Randy Krummenacher in the damp FP1 session, when the fastest lap times of the day were set. Bradl then finished seventh in the soaking wet afternoon session, when Phillip Island winner Alex de Angelis led the way for JiR MotoBI.
Bradl holds a 23-point lead over Marc Marquez heading into this Sunday's final round. Marquez had only a slim chance of riding this weekend as he continues to struggle with vision problems from his Sepang fall and duly missed both of today's practice sessions.
But after appearing to be ruled out of the weekend, handing Bradl the title, the Repsol Suter team are now holding out for a "miracle". The answer will be clear by Saturday's qualifying, which Marquez must take part in if he is to race.
Marquez must win and then Bradl score less than three points for Bradl to be denied.
