PICS: MotoGP salutes Simoncelli

MotoGP salutes Marco Simoncelli at Valencia.
MotoGP said goodbye to Marco Simoncelli with a lap of honour and then a firecracker display on race day morning at the Valencia season finale.

The lap of honour, attended by riders from all three world championships, was led by 1993 world champion Kevin Schwantz, a friend of Simoncelli who rode the 24-year-old Italian's Honda Gresini MotoGP bike.

The riders then stopped at the start/finish line, where paddock members and officials were gathered, before the start of the two-minute of noise (requested by Simoncelli's family) provided by the firecrackers.

See below for further pictures from the tribute.
