Moto2: Marc VDS to Kalex

Marc VDS team to swap Suter for Kalex.
The Marc VDS team has confirmed that Sunday's Valencia Moto2 season finale, in which Mika Kallio finished second, was its last race with a Suter chassis.

The team, which also helped develop the Suter-BMW MotoGP bike, will switch to Kalex machinery for the 2012 season. Kalex won this year's Moto2 title with Stefan Bradl.

Marc VDS, which has used the Suter chassis since the start of Moto2 in 2010, will debut the Kalex chassis in Monday's post race Valencia test.

Scott Redding took two podiums last year, but Kallio's second place was the team's only rostrum of 2011.

"Second feels almost as good as a win," said the former MotoGP rider. "It has been a difficult season and much harder than we expected, so to finish with a podium is an unbelievable feeling. We never gave up or stopped working and we have improved a lot in the last five races. So to finally get on the podium is a reward for all our efforts."

Redding finished 15th and Kallio 16th in this year's championship.

I hope they've learned from their experience with Suter and insisted on having an "equal chassis development opportunities" clause, (with heavy penalties for non-compliance), written into their contract this time.

@MM: According to reports from Speedweek last month MarcVDS did indeed have that & in fact even a clause that all new developments had to go to them. But then Suter handed the 2012 chassis to Marquez first and him alone which resulted apparently in the MarcVDS team even sueing Suter, demanding half of their money back for breach of contract. On top of that Suter then gave their CRT chassis to Forward Racing even though it was until then developed by the MarcVDS team with Kallio testing it. In my opinion Suter only have themselves to blame for the mass departure of teams now after how they handled things this year. Shooting themselves in the leg quite cleverly.
