Roberto Rolfo will return to the Moto2 World Championship in 2012 after signing to ride for the Technomag-CIP Suter team.
Rolfo, a former 250cc title contender and MotoGP rider, won the 2010 Malaysian Grand Prix for Italtrans Suter - marking his first victory at world championship level since 2004 - but switched back to Superbike with Pedercini Kawasaki for 2011.
It was to be a forgettable - and injury interrupted - season, which the Italian finished in 18th overall, having failed to crack the top ten in the races.
Rolfo wrote on his official website that he has unfinished business in Moto2, adding:
"I am very happy because the [Technomag-CIP] team is really high level and have shown great professionalism over the years working with very fast riders. I'm happy to ride a 600cc, I am passionate about bikes and I enjoy very much for the great speed that must be maintained in the corners! I'm getting better, my knee rehabilitation is going well and I cannot wait to get back in the saddle!”
Former World Supersport champion Kenan Sofuoglu rode alongside Dominique Aegerter at Technomag in 2011. Aegerter will remain for 2012, while Sofuoglu is heading back to WSS.
Technomag-CIP won the very first Moto2 race with the late Shoya Tomizawa at Qatar in 2010.
