Simoncelli Foundation announced

Marco Simoncelli Non-Profit Foundation presented. Official launch to take place on January 20th. Sign-up at www.MarcoSimoncelliFondazione.it
A Foundation in memory of rising MotoGP star Marco Simoncelli, who tragically lost his life in this year's Malaysian Grand Prix, has been presented.

The main aim of the non-profit Foundation is to 'help those worse off than we are'.

The Foundation has been formed by Simoncelli's parents Paolo and Rossella, his sister Martina and his girlfriend Kate, with assistance from close friends Carlo Pernat (Simoncelli's manager) and Paolo Beltramo (journalist).

"We have only just started and all around us there is a lot of positive energy so typical of Marco, energy he managed to instil in all those around him, and that made him special,” Italian News Agency AGI quotes Simoncelli's father as saying.

Paolo confirmed that the Foundation "will contribute with its funds to alleviate the suffering of those worse off than we are. It is hard for me to say where and how the funds raised will be distributed since I cannot assess how much we will have available as time goes by. One thing is certain, I will try and manage all this as a good father."

On January 20th - which would have been Simoncelli's 25th birthday - an event titled 'Happy Birthday Sic' will be held at the 105 Stadium in Rimini. “An evening of pure amusement just as my son would have wanted.”

The Marco Simoncelli Foundation website will also be officially launched on January 20, but membership of the Foundation (annual cost 30 euro) is already available.

Visit www.MarcoSimoncelliFondazione.it (available in Italian and English) to sign-up and see further information about the Foundation, plus links to Simoncelli's official Facebook fan page and website.

Only if and the what if's. I wish Marco was still around. He had a lot of potential and was one of the best riders on the circuit. He is still and will be truly missed in the sport. Good cause.... Cheers
