Moto2: Wilairot linked to Gresini

The Thai Moto2 rider is reported to be heading for Gresini after leaving Stop and Go Racing.

Spain's El Blog del Mundial de Motociclismo has reported that 'Feem' Ratthapark Wilairot has been dropped by Stop and Go Racing (SAG).

The blog also reports sources as saying that the 23 year-old Thai rider will be joining Gino Rea in the Gresini Moto2 team for 2012.

While the story will surprise many after his dreadful 2011, it is believed that Gresini had originally approached Wilairot in 2010, following his strong performances during the first half of the season, but had been unable to prise him away from the Spanish team.

Wilairot's 2011 team-mate, Santiago Hernandez, has already been replaced by Angel Rodriguez, but there is no news yet about who will be the other rider.

2011 was terrible simply because he had a terrible accident at the beginning on 2011 and then it continued throughout the year... His father died and then Feem almost died 2 weeks after in a nasty motorbike crash. He rode 2011 basically recovering and when he got back to decent shape again Marques rammed him up the **** and set him back again by injuring him further! 2011 was simply a year to forget. Feem is motogp material all he needs is a good team and good bike (look what he did on the Bimota first half of the season was sensational) and now hes got it. He will surprise many this year watch this space!
