Your MotoGP Rider of the Year: 6th

You vote Andrea Dovizioso 6th in Crash.net's MotoGP Rider of the Year poll
MotoGP Rider of the Year 2011:
6th Andrea Dovizioso
Your score out of 10: 7.07 (average)

Team: Repsol Honda Team
Bike: RC212V (factory)
Wins: 0
Podiums: 7
Poles: 0
Championship points: 228 (13.4 points per start average)
Championship position: 3rd

The first rider to break the 7 out of 10 mark in the Crash.net MotoGP Rider of the Year poll so far, Andrea Dovizioso is nonetheless ranked three places below his championship position.

The Italian finished his fourth MotoGP season a best-yet third in the championship, collecting his highest points score in the process and matching his seven podiums from last season.

Dovizioso also suffered just one DNF but, unlike team-mates Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa, didn't win and finished as the top Honda rider in just one race. It is perhaps for that reason that the 2012 Tech 3 Yamaha rider lost ground in the fan-ranking.

Crash.net's MotoGP Rider of the Year 2011:
6. Andrea Dovizioso 7.07
7. Alvaro Bautista 6.81
8. Colin Edwards 6.20
9. Nicky Hayden 6.00
10. Valentino Rossi 5.96

About the vote: Over 79,000 votes were cast during this year's Crash.net MotoGP poll, which asked viewers to award each of the 17 full-time riders a score out of 10.

As well as results, viewers were asked to take into account factors such as machinery specification, performance relative to team-mates, injuries, plus the ability to communicate with fans and promote the sport.

The full 17-rider rundown will be listed after the winner is announced on December 31.

Underrated. Look at what Sic failed to achieve on a factory bike for two seasons, two podiums gents that's it, and was being heralded as "the future of MotoGP" until his untimely death. I doubt Dovi was enjoying the same level of support as Hondas favourite three as well.... Maybe Dovi needs to grow a crappy hair cut and crash into people and act the silly Italian a bit more? Good solid rider, hope he goes well on the Tech3, I'd expect him to be beating Crutchlow from the off - at the minimum - and threatening Spies too (until the satellite team falls too far behind the Works team).
