Gresini's burgeoning MotoGP CRT project has been given a boost with the confirmation that Ten Kate Racing Products will supply its engine and electronics.
The Italian team has already confirmed it will enter a Honda-engined FTR chassis for Michele Pirro in 2012, alongside the prototype RC213V that will be piloted by Alvaro Bautista.
However, it has now been announced that TKRP, Honda's foremost entry into the World Superbike Championship, will supply and develop the engine and electronics' package throughout the season.
“Engine and electronics will be based on the late 2011 WSBK specifications and during the season developed to suit the CRT bike,” a brief statement revealed.
“Of course, the CRT bike will also use the latest fly by wire technology as developed by Ten Kate Racing and used by Jonathan Rea during the last WSBK races of 2011. With this new system the team managed to achieve some impressive results with two pole positions, one race win, and two third places.”
The news will see Pirro join forces with Ten Kate once more having raced for the team during the 2010 World Supersport Championship.
