MotoGP's new safety adviser, Loris Capirossi, has targeted Bridgestone tyres as his number one priority.

After 22 years racing at world championship level, including 14 years in the premier class, the 38 year-old Italian looks like he won't be taking any prisoners in his new role.

Talking to Italian magazine, Motorsprint, he explained, "I've accepted Dorna's proposal with one condition: I must be allowed to do things with passion and without being overpowered by economic or political interests. Even though Dorna will pay me a retainer, should I be told to do something against the riders's interests, then I won't do it.

"Carmelo [Ezpeleta] told me, 'on the subject of tyres, you decide, feel free to get angry', so I've used this power immediately," he said.

The hardness and durability of the tyres is his main point of contention and he says he told Bridgestone at Valencia in November that things have to change.

"The tyres situation in 2011 has never been clear, so in 2012 I will choose the tyres for the riders," he continued. "I mean I will do it personally: I will go by the bunch of tyres and pick them myself.

"There were problems with serial numbers too. With that number you can figure out when the tyre was built. A tyre built two years ago can't go as quick as one built last week. Some riders had the new tyres and some others the old ones. That's not okay, that must be fixed: I want the last rider to have the same possibilities the first one has."

Bridgestone have been the official supplier to MotoGP since the single tyre rule was introduced in 2009. Its initial three year contract was renewed in 2011 and will run to the end of the 2014 season.
