Day to stand-in for Toby Moody at Eurosport

“Excited to announce that I'll be standing in for Toby Moody" - Steve Day.
Steve Day has announced that he will stand-in for Eurosport MotoGP commentator Toby Moody at four events during the 2012 season.

Earlier this week Moody announced that he is replace Ben Edwards as ITV's live BTCC commentator at all ten events this year (click here). Edwards is moving to the BBC's F1 team.

Whilst Moody intends to continue his Eurosport MotoGP commitments alongside Julian Ryder and Neil Spalding for as many events as he can, there will be some clashes.

As such, fellow Motorcycle racing commentator and journalist Day has now announced via his Twitter account (@_SteveDay) that he will step in.

“Excited to announce that I'll be standing in for @TobyMoody for 4 Moto GP events in 2012. Big shoes to fill but looking forward to it!” he wrote.

“You may not be getting the whole dream team but I'll be with @MotoGPJules and @Spalders for Jerez, Assen, Brno and Sepang so 2/3 isn't bad!”

Want to know more about Steve Day? Here are some words from the man himself:

"I'm 28y years of age from Lowestoft and have presented and commentated on Thundersport GB for the past four years (and will continue to do so in 2012 on Motors TV).

"From 2000-2006 I raced myself, competing against and befriending the likes of Casey Stoner, Cal Crutchlow, Tom Sykes, Tommy Hill etc...

"I started out in the Aprilia Superteens, went on to race in National Junior Superstock and then British Supersport before various crashes and funding put a stop to it.(The realisation that I wasn't going to truly make it prompted the decision to talk about it instead).

Much debate about Toby Moody, but none about Steve Day. No slagging him off, but more importantly no support for him at all. He clearly doesn't generate enthusiasm by his person or in his previous commentary duties. Personally I don't know if Day will be good or awful, but I do know that on the few occasions when Neil Hodgson has been a pundit in the Studio with Tony Carter, and on the occasions he has commentated live he has been very listenable(to) and has talked sense and technicalities in an understandable manner.
So I'd have gone for Hodgson.
