Moto2: Simon has high hopes for 2012

'I posted some great times and I have been consistent. That makes me positive that ahead of the next test and, of course, before the first race in Qatar' - Julian Simon
Avintia FTR's Julian Simon emerged from the Jerez test in buoyant mood after making significant progress.

Simon was fifth fastest on the final day of the test on Saturday to give him plenty of reason for optimism ahead of the season opener in Qatar in April.

“Being able to ride with good weather and the track in good condition has been really productive. This season I am learning the bike and getting familiar with it and the electronics, and the tests have been essential for this,” he said.

“We've taken full advantage of the three days and, just as when we finished the test at Valencia, in Jerez feeling really confident that we are moving in right direction. We haven't reached the maximum the bike can do yet, we still need to improve the front end, but we are still fast and competitive.

“I posted some great times and I have been consistent. That makes me positive that ahead of the next test and, of course, before the first race in Qatar.”

The Spanish rider will now have some time off ahead of the next test, again at Jerez, in March.
