NGM Forward Mobile Racing's Alex De Angelis is in a much more relaxed state of mind as the opening round of the Moto2 World Championship looms large on the horizon.
De Angelis was ninth overall on his Suter with a best lap of 1m 42.741s at the conclusion of the three-day Jerez test and is now looking ahead to the first race in Qatar with optimism after making good progress in Spain.
“These three days have been the most positive and important ones from all the pre-season testing. We have surely discovered and defined many things in terms of the setting of the bike; we know what works and what doesn't work,” he said.
“We have greatly improved the lap times but above all we have improved the feeling with the front end of the bike, which is what we had been looking for since the beginning. It's not enough, I still have a lot of work to do, the other guys have gone really fast today but we have narrowed the gap.
“One of the highlights for me was that I made my best time the hard rear tyre and this surely helps lift up the spirits. We are going to Qatar with a more serene state of mind compared to how we began the season with the Suter.”
The Italian's team-mate, Yuki Takahashi, was 18th fastest overall, 1.208s behind pacesetter Claudio Corti.
