Thomas Luthi completed a perfect practice sweep for the 2012 Qatar Moto2 season-opener by once again holding off a swarm of Kalex riders in Friday's third and final session.

The Interwetten Suter rider set his best lap of the weekend with two minutes to go, confirming his place at the head of the standings.

Four Kalex riders followed in the form of Pons team-mates Aleix Espargaro and Esteve Rabat, then Marc VDS rider Scott Redding and Italtrans competitor Claudio Corti.

Then came the top FTR of Ioda's Simone Corsi, followed by the lone Speed Up of Andrea Iannone and fastest Tech 3 machine of Bradley Smith.

Only then did another Suter chassis appear, in the form of 2011 title runner-up Marc Marquez in ninth (+1.0sec).

Whilst Luthi and Espargaro broke away at the front - Espargaro's best set with the aid of a tow - just one-second covered third to 18th places.

Moto2 qualifying will take place on Saturday evening.

2012 is the third year of the 600cc grand prix world championship class, which features a control Honda engine and Dunlop tyres.
