Jorge Lorenzo will be aiming to increase his early MotoGP World Championship lead with a third home Spanish Grand Prix victory in a row at Jerez on Sunday.

Yamaha's 2010 world champion made a perfect start to the new 1000cc era by beating factory Honda rivals Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner to victory in the season-opening Qatar night race.

Lorenzo again expects the RC213V riders to provide his main opposition in the first European round of the year, especially after finishing between Stoner and Pedrosa during the final pre-season test at Jerez in March.

"I'm very excited to be coming back to Jerez again. We were very strong here in our test and I have always had good results. The competition will be tough; I expect Casey and especially Dani to be very fast," said Lorenzo.

"Qatar was a perfect start to our season; we worked very hard for that incredible victory. Now we get to race in front of our home fans, I will try to make sure we make a good show for them! Let's hope it doesn't rain this year!"

Team manager Wilco Zeelenberg is confident Lorenzo can complete a Jerez hat-trick.

"I'm looking forward to Jerez, it's always a great event with a lot of spectators!" said the Dutchman. "Jorge has won two years in a row; our aim is to make it three! After Qatar we are very confident with the package, with the hard work of the team and with Jorge's performance. We're looking forward to Friday to start again."

Lorenzo finished the March test 0.173sec behind reigning champion Stoner and a similar margin ahead of Pedrosa.

Lorenzo won last year's damp Jerez race by almost 20sec from Pedrosa, while Stoner suffered his only DNF of the year after tangling with Valentino Rossi.
