Bautista: Spies held me up

“On the very last lap I came up behind Spies in the first turn” – Alvaro Bautista.
Yamaha's Ben Spies may have lost three flying laps due to slower riders during qualifying at Estoril on Saturday, but San Carlo Honda Gresini's Alvaro Bautista claimed the Texan obstructed him at the end of the session.

“On the last soft tyre we ran into a lot of traffic on track and when I tried to push on the very last lap I came up behind Spies in the first turn,” said Bautista.

“It is a dangerous thing to do and I think it is up to all us riders to make sure that when we slow down we move aside and make way for the guys coming behind us.”

Nevertheless the Spaniard will start a Honda-best sixth on the grid... next to Spies.

“A second row start is good for us having qualified on the fourth row in Qatar and the third row at Jerez,” said former Suzuki rider Bautista. ”Tomorrow we need to make a good start and if we can stay with the guys at the front over the opening laps we can look forward to a good race.”

The camera was on Spies after he was blocked and I was shocked that he clearly stuck his leg out before entering turn 1, indicating that he was not on a hot lap. Now he still might have impeded Bautista, but it seems like he clearly indicated his intentions and I thought Bautista should have seen it. I did.

Firstly: Thanks crash for always posting headlines which will bring the most comments and flame wars, no matter what. Pure class. Secondly: To that anonymous dude accusing Bautista to have "sucked on" to Spies for his laptime, I suggest you watch the qualifying again and overthink your statement. Aside from that you don't seem to have done much actual watching of MotoGP lately anyway or your derogatory generalisation of Bautista allegedly always getting tows from others wouldn't have come up in the first place. You seem to confuse him with Barbera.
