Spies eager to get 2012 season back on track

“I really believe this weekend will see a turn around and we can get it back on track” - Ben Spies.
After a miserable start to the 2012 MotoGP season, Ben Spies is determined to turn things around this weekend in Catalunya.

The Yamaha rider is just eleventh in a championship led by team-mate Jorge Lorenzo heading into round five, following a string of race day issues.

But Barcelona was the scene of Spies' first factory podium last year and the Texan is confident of a competitive performance in the 2012 event.

“I really enjoy riding this track so I've been looking forward to getting here and getting started,” he said. “It's been a really challenging season so far, I really believe this weekend will see a turn around and we can get it back on track.

“As always I'm going to give it 100% to produce the best results possible. We know the bike is competitive so well focus on finding a good base set up quickly and hope we finally have a full dry weekend for everyone!”

Spies has taken a best finish of eighth so far this year.

Whats Spies' deal? How does talent like his just 'drop off' so abruptly. He's never been one to buckle under pressure, be it from a championship lead, or another rider wanting his factor seat. Are there other forces at-work hindering his performance? No man can have this much bad luck...
